I am pretty sure little brother will be able to hear them just fine. Funny. I darn near threw them away. Glad I didn't . It was definitely worth the efforts. Yes the T3 mod is most likely going to be on the second pair. Trying to keep little brothers pair as original as possible. Probably going to use caps like the ones Kenrick Sound uses. Expensive yes. Worth it? Probably.
Was not planning on getting into the cassette market this early in the project but was doing a little research and found something I just could not resist. Since the NAKS were out of my budget (outrageous prices) I was trying to find something that would sounds great but a bit more within reach financially. I was surprised to find a ton of reviews that compared the NAD 6300 to some of the NAKS. Well ok I am already a fan of NAD so why not at least look around right? Well turns out they are obviously way more popular than I ever imagined. When I was scanning the internet I could not find but 2 and they were in Russia. So I figured that this would take some time. And from what I understand now, NAD didn't make many and didn't promote them much as NAK was already flooding the market with decks and ads. After reading I am finding that the NAD, while not a very attractive in looks, apparently is a very solid built deck with fabulous sound. Sooooooo I set up my notification alerts so if one popped up I would get notified. WHAMO. 24 hours later and one popped up on the net. Excellent condition and 300 dollars. DONE. Bought it. Should be here any day. We will see just how good it is. Haven't found many who were not totally happy with the sound. And just for the record, little brother had 2 NAK Dragons but they came up missing and no one seems to know what happened to them. I haven't given up on the search for those yet. They disappeared along with everything else including 2 Nikko Alpha 440 amps and a Denon turntable(model unknown). He did not have any reel to reels. I had that covered with my GX-747. They are gorgeous but never cared for the sound. Thinking about a X2000M Teac now but if I find something that sounds better, is dependable, easy to find parts for and cheaper, I will probably give it a try.

Went and picked up my second set of L100T speakers. Let me see how to describe this transaction. Ok so I go to pick them up. The man said they were in the original boxes. They were indeed original as the serial numbers on the boxes match that on the speakers. Good deal but here is what got me. Have you ever gone out and bought something like this and when you got there and saw it you were almost in shock because you knew what you were getting was way more valuable than what you were paying? The seller insisted on taking them out of the box and testing them. I got no problem with that but literally had a difficult time containing myself as he slipped the boxes off and what came out was the most pristine pair of L100T speakers I have ever seen. On the typical internet scale of things these were 10 of 10. If he had not told me that the surrounds had been replaced I would have never believed it. And the surround replacement was very professional quality. And the sound? Oh boy. I could not wait to get them loaded and get our of there just so I could yell yippee real loud. I was trying very hard to act like I had seen speakers before. These things are beautiful and immaculate in all respects right down to the bases and the feet. Appears they were never out of the boxes for long. Anyway I got them home and connected them into my system with the two amps and all I can say is Good Grief Charlie Brown. Does anyone really need this much power? Probably not but what the heck. It makes one helluva show piece so far. The sound is fabulous and loud too when you want it to be. Very loud. No distortion, no hum, and exceptionally clean. Can't wait until I find two more amps.

Nice! I think the L100T and L80 T are fine speakers that JBL got right, combining what they knew about their drivers from the typical monitor style box cabinets they are so known for and then into a more modern tower style. In this format you get both the larger size woofer and the taller linear baffle.
My third 2600a came in today. Works great. Mint in appearance. paid less for this one than either of the others. One more to go. On a side note. Went to a local thrift store and found a mint condition set of Polk Audio Monitor 5 speakers. Paid 10 dollars for both. Anyway I've got one more amp to nail down, then I am going looking for a Revox B77 Mk II. Seems to be taking a long time but it is coming together.
Ok so it's been a little over a year since I started this plan and amp number 4 is on its' way here. Should be in some time next week. Speakers are in place and ready to go. Also added two reel 2 reels to the project. A TEAC 3340S and an Akai GX-747. ANd I am still not done. Wife thinks I am crazy.

I meant pre-recorded. I have four R2R units. None set-up at home right now due to space considerations and most especially lack of media.
I'd like to find out where/how so many tapeheads get their pre-recorded/commercial gems.
If I was going to make my own mixes or back-up versions, I'd likely go with CD or cassette...

I am making my own mixes. And loving every minute of it. Planning on buy some pre-recorded stuff but just getting started and haven't reached that point yet. No Russian Master recordings though. Hahaha.
If wanting to go really crazy get eight amps and bi-amp lol.

Carver TFM-25 powering the mains, Carver TFM-15cb bridged mono for the center, Carver TFM-15cb driving the rear channels, and a Soundtech A1000 pushing 400watts to each of the two passive subs.

The bi-amp thought has gone through my mind several times. And yes I am already leaning that way for my next project. JBL 4355 speakers bi-amped. But that is down the road a bit. Still have a few more small items I want to add to this system first. Besides. As nice as I bet it would sound I don't want to change up the L100T original config. I like them just the way they are.
When I biamped my Heresys the only change was moving a few wires inside and adding additional binding posts, nothing else was altered.
I used the original binding posts from the rear of the speakers on the inside to separate the woofer from the high frequency drivers for a more original look.
