Opinion on Speaker Cables?

Hi all

Firstly, I’m very new to all this, I’m just finishing off my system with some new bookshelf speakers and am looking for opinions on speaker cables.

I’ve narrowed it down to 2 contenders and wondered if anyone had any experience with them?

1/. Kimber Cable 8PR 2.5m terminated with gold spades or bananas

2/. Audioquest Rocket 33 2 x 2m terminated with gold spades or bananas

From the reviews I’ve seen so far, the Kimber seems to be more overall balanced. I’ve seen the Audioquest can be considered perhaps a bit bright?

I’m running a PrimaLuna Evo 100 Integrated Tube amp, looking for as much warmth as possible. Speakers are Buchardt S300s which are rated down to 35Hz.

It’s a full analogue system purely for vinyl playback.
I have used the Kimber 8PR for many years. It is my go to speaker cable. It is reasonably priced and sounds good to me. One thing with the 8PR, it tends to boost the bass frequencies. If your system is shy in the bass region it is a good cable to use.

Yes, that's one of the things that drew me to it actually.

Alas, it has very poor effective dielectric constant at 3.5. Remember ideal EDC is 1.

Much better can be found.

Yes. Thank you for this important public service announcement.

In response, at the very least I honestly promise to keep the signals going through these lowly cables <~20 kHz (can’t hear that high any ways). And I’ll be sure to keep the length of the cable runs to each speaker to just slightly less than <300m. Mostly because ... do you know how much ~2000’ of Belden wire weighs?!! I don’t want to hurt my back, I can’t pick this up. Plus I promise to take my wife on a lovely vacation with all the $$ I saved.

Thanks again for this important reminder! This is what AK is all about.

as others I've used many different brands and sizes of cabling, the past number of yrs I've used some 4wire OFC in-wall speaker cable I have boxes of.

Being an electrical contractor I had boxes of the stuff laying around from custom installs so it was there. Guess what, I heard no difference, and on the plus side it's 2pair construction makes bi-amping easy peasy.
