Opinions: Best Tweeters

I am a classic Infinity fan so I have to go with the EMIT K, I also like the EMIT-R, it disperses a little wider than the K but can't touch the detailed magic of the Emit K.

I am also a big fan of the Boston Acoustic Lynnfield tweeter..

So, what's your favorite tweeter of all time?

Not saying the best as I can't really hear the best anymore but I replaced my very directional planer tweeters with these polks. Why did I choose these? well they sound good and I have never read anyone complain about them.

Pic for reference.

EMIT K's for me. R's are not far behind.
Just wired some 1970's ESS Heil's into some Klipsch KG2's and it's light years ahead of the Klipsch "dome-horn" tweeter.
The Heil's have a sound very similar to infinity Emit's but reach a little lower in the spectrum

Unless you listen exclusively to high frequencies, a tweeter is only a part of the whole. It has to be properly integrated with other drivers, through a crossover, in an enclosure...

Party pooper. :)

Thread title says "Best" your initial post says "Favorite" which are 2 different things.

Which one are you actually looking for opinions on?

Focal's tweeters sound excellent to my ears and measure so flat that it's ridiculous. Of course, they aren't available to buy.

The ribbons in the Magneplaner MGIIIs I used to own were the best I've ever heard, but they're also the only line source ribbon I've ever heard. EMITs are a close second.

Heard a lot I like - the JBL 066 metalized phenolic domes in my L212s are very nice, subtle. Mostly unavailable
the JBL 2405 Slot tweeters are pretty fine in the right systems - a bit of high sizzle. Kinda high priced these days.
Lately I swapped a pair of ESS Great Heil drivers into my customized Heath/Altec Valencias and like them a whole lot! and affordable.

For me, it's Infinity's EMIT tweeter, including the ones built by Genesis Advanced Technologies.

OK fine then - I've heard and owned a good number of speakers in my time. As for tweeters, I've had titanium, aluminum, horn loaded, paper cone, planar, ribbon, "folded motion"...and yet my favorite has always been a good soft dome. The best I've heard reside in my Dali Zensor 1 & 3 speakers. The right blend of detail, air, delicacy...my litmus test is cymbals. A tweeter that can get cymbals right is aces in my book, and with the right front end (tubes) driving them, these tweeters get cymbals right.
