Opinions on Genesis Physics?

I recently found what seem to be a pair of Genesis Physics 410 speakers at an area thrift store for $30. :banana: The mids in both seem to be shot, but it seems that replacements are reasonably available through Human speakers. I've never encountered this brand before so I am curious as to what opinions those with more experience have of these & what more familiar brands/speakers these would be comparable to.

My only other set of what I'd consider quality speakers I have setup are a pair of Altec 14s currently being driven by a Fisher 400 tube receiver.

Would the Genesis 410s be happy with tubes (I also have a pair of Dynaco Mark IIIs available should I put them back into my setup) or would SS monster amps (also available to me should they be rotated back into the setup) be preferable?

I am not familiar with the 410s, but Genesis/EPI speakers are very, very good. If they look good and you think they would be cool, hard to beat that price, and I always like to see "speakers in need" go to someone who will fix them.


Just looking at the picture at Human Speakers, I bet they would be outstanding. I'd snap those up in a heartbeat! Don't forget to replace the caps in the crossover!

(edit) Oh, actually reading your post- My Genesis 2+ like power. Seems like big solid state power is the way to go.
 
I have Genesis Physics 1s, 1+, and 10s. They sounded great on everything from a 12wpc tube amp to 185wpc Pioneer SX-1280. I'm a big fan of them, and pretty much anything with that Epi/Genesis inverted dome tweeter. The 410 looks like a great speaker...not sure if it would image as well as the two ways with that driver array, but who knows..I bet they sound great with whatever you put them on.
 
I've got a pair of Genesis Model 10s. Discovered how good Genesis are only recently. I don't think I'll ever let go of them.

That's a strong statement for a recent empty nester with lots of equipment for which I've got a strong affinity (see below plus some recent A-25s).
