I have an opportunity to purchase a very clean, unmodified, New York Audio Labs Moscode 300 tube amp, I have primarily solid state gear, and I've been wanting to get into tube gear more. I love my Eico 2080. I wondered how a hybrid amp will sound compared to my Eico? I'm looking for more power, my main speakers used are either JBL L300 Summits, or Altec Lansing model 19's. I listen to almost everything, but mainly classic and new rock. Will the Moscode 300 be a good match for these? I've done some research, I've heard there is some "transformer feedback noise" generated by some of these amps, is this a sign of an amp needing repair, or is it a characteristic of them? I appreciate any opinions, or suggestions for reasonably affordable tube substitutes.
