Opinions on Reissue 6CA7 and KT77 tubes

I have owned JJ E88CC, 12AX7, and EL84. All of them were okay, nothing great. Always switched them out for better tubes. However the JJ KT77 is pretty decent. Surprised me. In one of my amps, I preferred them to vintage Sylvania fat boy 6CA7s. More detail and top-end air while still sound very good though the midrange. Haven't tried any of their EL34s.

Afaik, yes. The EH big bottle 6CA7 innards look just like the Sylvanias, just like 6550.

I still have some of those old Sylvania 6CA7's (and 6550's too; they really did look the same,didn't they?) around here somewhere,but I don't think a quad,maybe 2 or three.Damn,that was a fine tube,and pretty near bulletproof too!

I have a couple of ST-70's that I'd like to rebuild,and I have wanted to try those EH 6CA7's for a long time, based on reading a lot of positive feedback on them.

The original 6CA7 was a beam tube,are the reissues also? I had the same preference with the original 6CA7 over the EL34 too,and for the same reasons.

If you ask about the JJ 6CA7: yes they are beam tetrodes, just like the original

Just rolled in a set of GL KT77s to replace the reissue Mullard EL34s in my CJ Classic60SE. It was like rolling in the set of the GL KT88s in my SLI-80. Immediate improvement in clarity, detail and sound-stage depth. Think the factory that is putting out the GL's have figured out the formula. Very pleased.
