Ortofon OM5E riding very close to record

Hi, I'm new here. While playing a record I noticed that the body of the cartridge was riding very close to the surface of the record. I looked at a couple other threads about this here, but the links to the pictures were all dead. As such, I just wanted to know what you guys thought of the ride height. Now, for context, I have a Sansui FR-4060. The tracking force is set at around 1.74g. It's within spec. Tell me what you guys think.

I don't think it looks overly close to the record. For what it's worth a photo of my turntable is attached.

@thehaiwave: Do you have another pic, one that is parallel to the record? It’s hard to tell what space is between the lp and cart in the posted pic.

looks normal to me. I'm not sure about the tonearm being parallel with the platter though. It's hard to tell by the picture but it looks like it needs lowering.

It's kind of hard to see where the LP ends because of the crappy lighting in my room.

Yeah, the body itself looks to be at about the same height but my stylus is a little bit more compressed, I think. Don't know if that really matters.

Looks fine to me - I have at92e’s that ride lower.

No, that means you lower the tonearm at the base or, alternatively, with no other choice, raise the cartridge end with a thicker mat.

I see. I just checked, and the tonearm is at an angle. Not very noticeable. My turntable does not have adjustable height, as far as I know. I'll look into getting a thicker mat.

Oh, before a thicker mat... A shim between the cart and headshell will achieve the same result.

I have that same cartridge. It’s not currently mounted on a table, so I can’t run over and check, but that looks about right.

I have one mounted on a second table. It looks right to me.
