Ortophon LM 10 Cartridge

I recently broke off the stylus to the Ortophon LM 10 Cartridge on my Thorens MK 166 ii. This is a standard original straight Thorens tonearm. There are 4 small tone arm connectors with colored wires that plug into the back of the cartridge. If I was to replace this assembly so it's compatible with the Thoren's tonearm what's the most economical solution from Ortophon. Thx

You could just replace the stylus, no need to mount a whole new cartridge.

Any standard-mount cartridge will be "compatible," as there are no other pin connection systems on turntables other than the standard 4-pin style that every tonearm features. You don't have a P-mount turntable so we really don't need to discuss those cartridges here.

In theory, you can fit the current Ortofon Stylus 10 (as used on the OM10) to the LM body. However, in practice, it is a loose fit and it is necessary to insert a thin wedge (like a tiny paper strip) to secure the stylus in place. I tried a 5E stylus on an LM body in this way and it sounded rather nice. You can use the 5S, 5E, 10, 20, 30 or 40 stylus.

I replaced my LM10 stylus with a OM10 stylus. It is a bit looser fit, but it works fine - I used a very small bit of modeling clay to fix it to the cartridge body. Of course, you want to rebalance and reset your tracking, or reverify tracking weight with a scale. The small blob of modeling clay is likely only a gram or so.

Didn't think of the thin paper strip mentioned above. That would also work.
