Outlaw 990; How does it rate as a 2-channel preamp

scootchu

Dear Sir or Madman
I have read some positive things about the Outlaw and how it rates as a 2-channel preamp when not serving duty as a HT processor. How does this Pre/pro stack up against dedicated pre-s? I have a few; H/K Citation 21, B&K Pro 5, Nikko, and a Proton. I was thinking of killing two birds with one stone and looking at an outlaw. Opinions?

I have the 990 and am very happy with it,seems to have a lot of bang for the buck IMO.

Do you use it in the 2 channel bypass mode and if so how would you say it compares to a dedicated preamplifier? What amps are you using with it?

Although I don't know the answer to your question I would think the Outlaw would be top notch. I've never owned any Outlaw gear but have heard an Outlaw home theater setup and it was very impressive.
I've been hoping to add one of the short lived Outlaw receivers to my collection. It's the only receiver from the "modern era" I would put in my collection!
