output question

Hi

Normally the TAPE REC sends out the signal of the Aux/Phono/tuner.

Now, if i would connect my CD player into the TAPE MON, and activate it with the Tape mon on switch, will the TAPE REC still send out the Aux/Phono/tuner? Or will it send out whatever is playing through the speakers?

hi Glen

thanks.

Now, i just realized the receiver has a "REC selector" (which is, i think, an output selector?), and there is an option "duplicate", does this mean i can send out whatever is plugged into the TAPE MONITOR? (please check picture attached)

And "source" would be what's feeding the "aux"?

I can't try it out by myself as i still don't have this receiver (yet)

If your CD player is connected to the tape 1, in order for you to get it to come out of the REC OUT jacks, you need to have DUPLICATE selected on the RECORD SELECTOR switch. This will usually send it to the tape 2 REC OUT jacks.

If you are listening to a CD and you have the source on FM & the record selector is on "SOURCE", you will get the FM out of both tape 1 & 2 REC OUT jacks.

If its anything like my Pioneer SA-****, If the CD player is connected to TAPE 1, selecting the "DUPLICATE" will send it out of the tape 2 REC OUT jacks. Same goes for the CD in tape 2, the dupliciate will send it to tape 1 REC OUT jacks.

beautiful, thanks, that's great!

now, what happens if both tape 1 and tape 2 monitor are selected?

will it play both sources dubbing over each other??

Re-read my post. I had to do a little editing!

Normally, you can't have both tape monitors at the same time. It's one or the other.

hi Cademan

on the pioneer SX 7730, it's possible to select both tape monitors... if both are fed with different source signals, would i cause any damage when both tape monitors are accidently activated?

That don't sound right! Better check it out! I believe that if both tape monitors are pressed, only one is going to work.

For example, if you push tape monitor 1, and you have a CD player connected through it, you're going to hear the CD player.

Now let's say you have a cassette deck connected to tape monitor 2. With the tape monitor 1 button still pushed, and you push tape monitor 2, I believe it will cut out tape monitor 1 and you will now hear the cassette deck only even with the CD player playing.

If they were to both work at the same time (which I don't think they will), it will just act like a mixer and mix both signals together and won't cause any harm.

Agreed, one tape input will override the other if both are selected. It's been too long since i've owned a big pioneer to be sure which one prevails in that scenario. Try it and let us know.

ok thanks, i will, i just wanted to know for sure if i could cause damage to this beautiful machine before trying it...
