PA gear and effects hook-up?? SR303

similost

Rockin and Rollin....
OK.. I'm stumped...

I just recieved a nice Pioneer SR303 from a member here. I'm trying to get this hooked up, but I am stumped...

I've got a Tapco Mix100 mixer. Manual here:
http://www.tapcoworld.com/pdf/MixSeries_OM.pdf

Here's the manual for the Reverb:
http://www.hifiengine.com/download_centre/index.php?pioneer_sr-303.pdf

I tried hooking the reverb in and outs to the CD/Tape In/out, pressed the buttons... no dice...

Do I need to hook it in line out of the mixer and into the the EQ then onto the crossover?

I don't need to worry about the tape an and out on the reverb correct? Just the reverb in and out?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Well. after reading a while, seems I need to hook into my AUX send jack.. which is 1/4" jack, and only one, Then mix it into the channels I'm using.... now I'm wondering how to do this.. I know it's probably impossible, but there's gotta be a way to wire this in?

best way would be with just a little bit more mixer such that it had "inserts" on either all of the input channels, or at least on the mains.

you only have one auxillary buss on this mixer(thanks for linking the manual), so stereo send and return is no dice, a step or two up would give you at least a dual aux buss with channel assignability, and likely inserts and possibly even a dedicated efx loop.

Now how did I know if anyone here would know, it would be you? :D

Pretty much the conclusion I had come too myself.. but wasn't positive... I've been wanting to get another mixer, because I didn't have enough inputs as it is. I have to keep moving cables around when I want to listen to different inputs..

Guess this gave me reason.. .now how to get that past the wife.. :scratch2:

Thanks so much Tom.. you sure are a wealth :thmbsp:

See if she'll let you have one of these

SSL4056G+ complete with NS-10's, Genelecs and custom Sony monitors in "pockets" in the wall.

:lmao:

I could only wish I had a room that would fit in....

I've been looking at a few lately... a couple 12 and 16 channel... I'll find something that will fit on my rack.. but that's sweet :thmbsp:

Mackie makes a nice 16 channel board that is not to expensive and the used ones can be found at very nice prices.

I wish I had pics of the rack of gear behind me in this pic and more detailed ones of the Sony speakers. They were custom made by Sony for Michael Jacksons "Thriller" sessions. The board was Metallica's originally.

There are a couple of Mackie boards in my area, but they are pretty beat up looking..

I got a couple Behringers in my e-bay watch list... a UB2442-FX and a Xenyx 2442 FX..

They seem to fit the bill, enough inputs for me, and stereo aux returns.. plus I get some eq's on the board, which I don't have now on my stereo inputs..

Some people get to play with all the cool toys for their jobs.. :p:

James, here's what i use down in the mancave much of the time. It's an older but well kept Behringer MX2004, awesome sounding "invisible" preamps, better than the 2k Allen and Heath i used to use at about 1/10 the cost.

I'd probably not use the behringer gear for honest sound reinforcement, but for in home use you will spend an awful lot of money to surpass it's sound. They don't make the MX series anymore so you'll have to do a little hunting, but they're out there................. even nice clean "minty" ones.

The bottom pic is of a future project that i'll also use down in the mancave after i sort out a couple minor issues, hopefully it'll sound halfway decent altho it has it's obvious "nostalgic" value.:D

I wish I could say that was work.

Unfortunately the only audio I deal with at this time is vintage stereo gear.

I agree that some of the Behringer boards are great for home use.

There are far worse forms of damnation.

I have to admit i rather enjoy vintage stereo. It gets rather cold this time of year in these parts and there's few better ways to spend your evening than with the quality tunes of your choice, company of your choice, beverage of your choice, ..................... all in front of a toasty wood fire.:D

I just found this one in my area..

Behringer Eurorack MX-1604A - $50
Behringer Eurorack MX1604A Mixer w/ AC adapter and rack ears.

I dropped the seller an e-mail saying I would buy it if he still had it.. not a bad deal at all, but still short two mono channels for what I need.. no biggie.. I just leave the DVD unhooked, I don't use it often..

BTW.. that Altec board looks interesting.. never seen one..

1604 "should" accept 8 incoming stereo signals total.

If the mic preamps are the same as in the 2004, then you'll have a sweepable(parametric) mid eq on those first 6 mono inputs(8 on the 2004), properly used that sweepable mid gives you more tuneability than a graphic eq. hi and low are fixed frequencies, and the eq's on the "stereo" inputs are 3 or 4 bands fixed. I usually use pairs of the mono inputs most of the time with their pan controls turned to the appropriate extreme as the "stereo" inputs do not have input gain controls.

EDIT: looking at 1604 now, only has 4 mono inputs..................... just consider those are where the best sound quality and parametric mid eq reside.
