Packard Bell RPC-5 console

Ran across this Packard Bell RPC-5 stereo console at a consignment shop. In amazingly good shape. Tuner works great, but the belt needs replacing on the record player. Going to have to find out how to do that. Uses tubes throughout. Got it for $80. When I originally saw it I thought it would be great just to put some of my gear on top of it, but since the tuner works so well it's in my living room as a main piece :D

yeah, likely an idler drive. Probably gummed up or something like most of them are. If thats a tube rig, it probably could do with some refurb work to make it reliable. Nice looking piece though.
 
That is a VM 1200 series changer, probably needs new idler and motor mounts as well
as clean & lube. The voiceofmusic.com is your friend for this.

thanks alot. yeah the idler/motor seems to heat up but doesn't spin. not too familiar with this so thanks for the info. i'll see if i can fix it myself.
 
Older thread, but it's got a brochure picture of the 5 and 7... I have a line on a &, and I was wondering what the tube amp looks like. A search on the 7 didn't tell me much. Does anyone know what to expect inside?
