Pair C-80 with an M-80 or something else?

I've recently befriended a very old gentleman who has collected various electronics for what seems like half a century. He wants to sell some of his stuff and I'm interested in an M-80 amp as well as a Pioneer VSX-D1S.

The obvious answer seems to be go ahead and pair the M-80 with my C-80 but I find forums stating the M-80 can have heating issues along with being a pain to repair.

What do you guys think? Would pairing the C-80 with the Pioneer be a crime?

Additionally, how is the phono on the C-80? I was given it some years ago and plan to either have it serviced or attempt to replace the caps myself.

Thank you guys in advance and I apologize if my formatting or anything else related to the post doesn’t belong here (Pioneer) . I didn’t know where else to ask.

Welcome aboard..

Overheating is over blown IMHO. Being a pain to repair. They can be challenging sometimes. I would go with the M-80 over the Pioneer. But my opinion is biased toward Nippon Gakki.
