Panasonic RE 7680 Receiver Schematic Wanted

The attached photo of this Panasonic receiver is the model I have. Bought new in 1972, it has been a trustworthy little outfit all these years. I've owned other makes, but after they all gave up the ghost, this one still hums along. I always thought the sound quality was just as good as any. But it has burned out bulbs, and has gotten bassy. When I was new and I was a teenager, the bass knob stayed on full. Now I have to keep it on low, or it will distort. The whole thing needs to be gone through. But first step is finding some service material on it, and there really isn't much on the web about this sweet little machine. Thank you.

Hello, was wondering if you had any luck with a schematic. I have the same model and I am struggling to get FM reception.

No, I never heard anyting from anywhere. It's been so long since I poste about it I figured it just turned into another dead-end thread.

Thank you for responding to my question. Just as an FYI, I went through Panasonic customer support. I first received an automated response with a link to their manual look-up site. Even though my request explained to them that site did not contain the model number, gave them the model number, and stated the receiver was from the 1970s, that was the "Customer Service" response I received. And they also closed the ticket since I had been "helped". I dogged them with a couple more e-mails and they finally gave me a link to their service center. I filled out the form and submitted a request about a week back. Have not seen a response yet. Maybe you can try. The link is below. Good luck.

Welcome to AK, @JoeyBags. I think it's possible that your expectations for manufacturer's support of half-century-old equipment might be unrealistic. You will probably need to look for secondary sources.

Googling 'Panasonic RE 7680 elektrotanya" turns up a PicClick link that looks promising. (I think it's inappropriate to post the link here, sorry.) At $20 for what seems to be a rare item, it seems like a bargain.

Thank you Chazix. Glad to be part of the community. Agree with your sentiment. I was more poking fun at the automated response than anything. Thank you for the suggestion. I agree that it does look promising.

Wondering how you made out with servicing your RE-7680. It's hard going trying to find schematics for the 7680. 7670? Sure! On my 7680 that had no sound, I've had good outcomes just replacing all the electrolytic caps -- not an elegant solution, but now there is music where there was none. I did have some issues with FM dropping out, and it seemed that replacing the caps near the stereo decoder IC fixed that. I think all the tone control circuitry is up off the main board on a little PCB near the knobs (re: Henry Finley's issue).

No I never did find any info on mine. I suppose I'll just have to go in for a full recap job and hope for the best. It's not like that hasn't become a regular thing on all these old machines.

Thank you for the advice. I’ll definitely look into that repair as I have not made any attempts to fix my RE-7680. I keep looking for another service manual to show up on one of the auction sites. What I believe my receiver is experiencing is an FM muting problem. The AM signal came in loud and clear. FM had static and the static was louder as I neared the higher wattage stations. FM Stereo had no sound. Thanks again.

Anyone that has this, could you please please advise me on how to get the top cover off to service the components inside. Have several other similar models which utilize a slide out mechanism with the front face. It seemed obvious this was the same type too except I just can’t slide the thing out. Have removed all screws (6 on the bottom chassis, 4 of the shoes, got the back panel off and all the front panel knobs off) - looked to see if there was any metallic locking in place for the slide out but don’t see any. Been driving me crazy. TIA for the assistance
