Panasonic RS-805 8 track problem

Hi, picked up a Panasonic RS-805 8 track player for free. There's no sound and the meter doesn't move at all. But it powers on and clicks through the tracks great. You can hear the tape play and f-forward. The exterior is great. Anyone know what's going on?
