First, hello all. I'm an amateur with pertains to audio equipment but have become increasingly interested in upgrading (albeit slowly) my home audio listening setup for my vinyl, cd and digital music collection.
I had been borrowing a nice, clean Pioneer SX-650 receiver. He urged me to give a solid state receiver a try and ditch my old budget receiver. I'm now convinced and recently bit on a very clean Panasonic SA-700 receiver.
I realize that I likely overpaid ($60) but after moving I was eager to have something clean, working and aesthetically pleasing while I do research and work on upgrading my setup.
As I research I'm finding very little info on this unit. Anyone here have any experience? Currently I just have the turntable hooked up with the following setup: Dual 1237 TT w/ Shure M95ED > Panasonic SA-700 receiver > Technics SB CR-33 floor speakers. It doesn't have as nice a sound as the Pioneer I borrowed had from recollection however it's a really hard comparison as I purchased this unit after moving and was not able to a/b the units. I'm in a new space that is likely better acoustically as well. My setup is certainly not nice but so given that the speakers are very clean and working and were free and I've invested $120 all in otherwise I'm fairly happy.
As I type this I'm not sure the point of this thread beyond trying to retrieve more information. Not much out there. I don't expect to find that this is a superb unit but trying to see what I'm missing/not. The speakers likely need to be the first segment to upgrade. It's a unit that I find really easy on the eyes and fits my aesthetic preference. The setup is in my 'studio' space that is roughly 15'x15' with wood floors. and two walls with large nearly floor to ceiling windows fwiw.
