I'm hoping someone can identify and advise about an issue I'm having with my National Panasonic SL 1000 (SP10 turntable). The best way I can describe is that the platter gets 'stuck'. Upon hitting the start button, the platter very slightly rocks back and forth. Platter spins when given a push in the right direction, and it spins occasionally when hitting start, but mostly it just seems stuck. I purchased and applied original Technics SFWO 010 spindle oil from KAB, but to no effect.

OP I'd first try a simple cheap option before sending out, clean start/stop button with Deoxit contact cleaner, while at it clean all the switches. No special skills involved.

SP10 is lot simpler than the SP-10 MKII. On an SP-10 it can be that simple.

OP that SP-10 is getting close to 50 years old, they were built like tanks and as JP said quite simple compared to the next generation SP-10Mk2. Very possible there is an accumulation of dirt crud coffee pepsi on that on/off switch along with the other controls. Spray the switch and activate on/off a number of times and test, with luck problem solved.
