This has been 1 1/2yrs in the making. Scored this system at beginning of pandemic and it sat in a corner of my basement covered until now. Finally mostly finished basement Reno and today got system hooked up. Wife helped me select some good interconnects I have stashed in a tote. Selected from names like audioquest, kimber, vampire, MIT etc. The Sony deck is simply a place holder till I get my TD-125 back from shop. I’m pulling the rabco arm from it and running a more conventional SME 3009 arm instead.

my room is very live! Need furniture and some sound batting.

the system is very detailed and puts out power effortlessly. I feel very rich tonight. Might have to pour some Ernest & Gallo and have some smoked oysters tonight.

system consists of:

MC7270
C35
MR80
MCD 205
XRT 18

Nice system. Incidentally you might want to consider adding the McIntosh R620 cable from the C35 to the MR80. This will allow the FM stations to be changed by way of the remote control. Rear panel switch on MR80 selects between remote scan of preset stations or all. Have you tried toeing in the speakers? I've found the differences to be dramatic.

@62caddy you are correct that I am in need of that cable to have hands free tuner operation which will be welcome. And also I plan on experimenting with speaker placement. This was the first time setting up. Fine tuning will follow naturally.

I see where cable goes in back of mr80 but where does it plug into c35??

On the rear panel of the C35 there is a multi-pin type connector labeled "TUNER" directly above it.

@Onebean thanks. Very happy with my new bath in the basement almost as much as stereo system. Kids marred paint on walls less than 48hrs after drying. Lol.

@damacman very detailed and never break up even when fed more juice. Just get louder and louder with clarity. That said they aren’t as engaging as some of my other speakers. As in make your hair stand on end. ie:

ohm F’s
Soliloquy’s
Infinity rs 2.5
Jbl urei’s
Fried studio IV
Ess rock monitors

that said I’m very happy with sound and I am a completest so they are staying. They do sound a lot better than my other Mc speakers XR1051’s however.

Wow, that bathroom in nice! I really like that floor. Crank up the XRT18's, and head in to take care of some business.

no wonder you were selling all that other stuff, thats what I did years ago......you soon learn you need one good system, or maybe two depending on how big your living space is.

@jdwk exactly. The only problem is I have lots of other Mac gear on top of all the other crap I have that I don’t wanna get rid of but have no real space to set them up. Let’s see:

MC 2155
MC 60 x 2
MC 225
MX 110 x 2
MR 78
C 29
MAC 4100

First world problems I guess.

Very, very nice Mc. setup, nolasally.

I have the purchased used from my Mc. dealer XRT -18s in my bedroom`s system since the early nineties, and love them.
I see yours have the optional and rare tweeter line array stands, like mine..

Only had to re-foam the mids and woofers since installation..
And I wanted a little more bottom end than they seem to offer in my bedroom, so I married them with L/R Velodyne ULD 15 servo 400 watt floor firing subwoofers, and that was a very good next step.
But in 2006 I decided to update the 18`s Crown twin DC 300 mono configured amplification with 2 Mc. MC 1201s, which really earn their investment keep when in the morning after waking up I crank up the system because a great song comes on begging for realistic SPL volume and they just loaf along...

Tame that room`s reflections so you can thoroughly enjoy all what the 18s can give you..

Enjoy your new Mc. system, Sir.
