Paradigm 11se vs 9se

Hello, poor college kid here looking for some advice

I can get either a pair of Paradigm 11SE mk2 for ~$150 in questionable condition (drivers apparently cut in and out) or a fairly good condition (maybe some scratches and dings, not significant at all) 9SE mk3 for $200.

I know the speakers are fairly similar; both have dual 8" woofers and have a similar size, but 11se are a bit wider and 9se are front ported

What do you think would be the better option? The 9SE guy is pretty firm but the 11SE speakers could be a lemon, so I'm a bit unsure

$200 for a pair of 9SeMkiii sounds a bit high and at your budget, I would be looking at other brands/models. I use a pair of 11SeMkiii & 7SeMkiii in my HT setup and they are OK for that. Not very revealing speakers for music if you ask me. YMMV.

unfortunately (or fortunately? not sure in this case) I'm in Toronto, so my options are a bit limited as far as cheap Klipsch and other highly recommended brands goes

I thought $200 was about what they're worth but then again, that's what they're asking, not what they're getting so maybe you're right and $200 is high

I have four 9 se mk111 for my music room and they sound great .Would recommend them to anyone who is looking at some. I have never heard the 11's.

I am also a poor college kid in Toronto, you should keep checking classifieds for some good speakers, I can hook you up with speakers for free but they are really heavy and big, PM me if your interested.

Boy, being in Toronto, there should be all types of nice speakers around, for sale. Just keep looking.

There are a lot of overpriced goods as well, I specifically know one person in the area who buys and resells for ridiculous prices. He bought something from me previously and attempted to flip it a couple of days later for 2x for what he bought them off me for.
I have heard stories though of some people striking gold at the goodwill in the country side and scoring a crap ton of klipsch speakers worth a couple of thousand for a couple of bucks.

I have a pair of 9se mk iii's and they're a pretty nice speaker. I'd give you mine for 1/2 of the $200, but Saskatoon is a long way from T.O.

Personally I'd avoid the 11's if there's any doubt about weather they work or not.

Unless you have no speakers at the moment i'd say keep your eyes open and wait for something that works good and is in your financial comfort zone. But don't hold out for the speakers worth a couple grand for a couple bucks. Those deals do happen, but are very few and far between. There are however often reasonable deals to be found if you keep looking.
