Paradigm Eclipse BP

Hi All!

I inherited some basically new (old) Paradigm Eclipse PB speakers. My father purchased these new about 15-16 years ago and stuck them in storage. We always hoped to have room for them and the truth is we don’t.

[Mod Edit]

First, what do you guys think they’re worth?

Any chance I can salvage the fronts and cut down the cabinets to a size that’s a bit more manageable? I have about enough room for the rears to run as fronts but paradigm says they just weren’t really designed to perform as front speakers.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks! :)

I'm guessing in the 500 (cdn) dollar range. I wouldn't molest them. Sell them off and buy a pair that work best for your situation. Probably get close to an even trade for a pair of v1 or v2 Studio 60's.

Thanks Mikey!

I appreciate the reply. I figured they were worth $300-$400USD so we’re right there.

The problem is that they weigh a ton. Shipping would be a logistical nightmare and I live in a small town sort of in the middle of a bunch of big towns. Too close to ship, to far to drive.

I agree, molesting them will be a shame as these are rare and becoming rarer by the day. But, say I did. What would be the first step?

The wiring inside is very basic, the front speaker is wired to the rear speaker, the front tweeter wired to the rear. From the rears, there are wires going down to the bottom of the cabinet and I don’t know what the rest of the wiring looks like but I’m assuming it’s basic.

I figure that anything I do with these will sound better than running the rears as front right? I mean, just the driver/tweeter quality in the front speakers is better than rear yeah?

Is there a member here that’s well versed in these things you guys can refer me to? I’m happy to send pizza and beers to anyone who can help!
