Hey guys, recently picked up a pair of Paradigm Phantom V2 efficiency floorstanding speakers. I've got them hooked up to my harman/kardon 330c which I know for a fact is perfectly fine.
The issue that is on a lot of stuff I like to listen to (such as electronic and rap) certain low frequencies will make the speakers rattle. The bass on both of them is also extremely weak. I have to turn the bass knob from the midpoint of my receiver to almost the entire way up for it to even sound like the song I'm trying to play. The rattling goes away if I turn the bass setting down, but then the audio sounds really tinny and bad. Seems like my roommate's little bluetooth speaker packs more of a bass punch than these. I've just been using my computer speakers (h/k Soundsticks iii) mostly lately but I want my stereo setup to sound better. I had a pair of Paradigm Titan bookshelf speakers at home and they also sounded way better, despite the fact that the Phantoms should outperform them.
Overall, they sound okay once I mess with the settings on the receiver but I have a feeling they should sound way better. Sadly the front grille doesn't come off for me to check them out. I can unscrew the backs off them and check them out that way as well.
Other info: They still get very loud. Doesn't appear to be a power issue. Happens on both my turntable and my aux connection. Happens on both speakers. When I bring the balance all the way left, it happens just to the left one and when I bring it all the way right it just happens to the right one, naturally.
I could potentially buy a subwoofer to help but that would kinda be a workaround. I don't think they should rattle like this.
