With Paradigm specs you also have to look to.

Low Frequency Extension 45Hz (DIN)

45Hz looks better than 70

Isn't the low frequency extension (DIN rating) in the neighborhood of -10 db ? Still audible, especially with some room gain behind them..

@toxcrusadr i appreciate you checking that out for me. Yeah, it's definitely probably the receiver. I need to get something else that has some umph to it. At the time I just something affordable that I could use a remote with. Any recommendations for a 2.1 system?

There is SO much gear out there. And there are some really good surround receivers that are 'sleepers' that you can find cheap on the used market. You might want to do some reading in Solid State and write down model numbers when you find something that sounds promising.

Ah. I see now. I was remembering how PSB rated their "low frequency cutoff" spec at -10 db. (I'm assuming anechoic) Paradigm it seems uses -3 db while applying typical room gain . Two different methods for a similar frequency spec.
