Paradigm speakers from CL

Directly from the add:

1 pair of Paradigm Monitor 7 front speakers
1 pair of Paradigm Mini-Monitors
1 pair of Paradigm ADP Surrounds
1 Paradigm Monitor Center Channel
1 Paradigm PDR-12 (less common, better sounding, and harder to find than the PDR-10)

asking 700. I know new this would be an HOLY SH!T deal if they are the newest ones, but used, I am not sure. I have no idea how old any of the equipment is. Can anyone shine a light on it for me... I was bummed though because the seller would not trade the speakers for a custom computer, which he said he could use, but I am not sure if 700 is low enough.

Oh, he just emailed me back again, because I am a student, he dropped 100 off, so it is now 600... Thoughts??

*EDIT* All version one speakers! Except the dipole surrounds. The center is a CC-350, Do you all think its worth it??

That's a pretty sweet deal actually. The PDR-12 is nice. I had one for a few years. The ADP surrounds are probably worth half that depending on the model. I would LOVE some ADP surrounds. I would pick it up.

Offer a bit less and see if the seller takes it. Even at the asking price its a pretty good deal.

Even the series 1? Arent they fairly old? I mean I love vintage stuff, have me a pair of Marantz HE-10's that I adore, but I thought older Paradigm's weren't as nice. Am I mistaken?

Stellar speakers are stellar speakers...matters not how old. $600 would be a very good deal if they are in good shape...If they are...get them...you will not regret it. Paradigm makes really incredible stuff. Remember, the "series 1" stuff was part of what made Paradigm's reputation for offering high-quality speakers at really good prices.

Still in contact with the seller. Asked about the ADP's this was the response: "ADP surrounds are version 2 but they are voice matched for versions one up to version four." Seller is quite nice, will be directing him over here once I figure out if I can spend 6 weeks of work on speakers :/

I guess I can see your point, like old-school Klipsch or ESS (loved the AMT 1b's I grew up listening to) older most likely means better... From the pics (see original posting) they appear to be in great shape. They were ran with an Integra 7.6, so the seller knows his equipment I would think... From how he is talking to me, he should be selling for Paradigm, I want these more and more every time I hear back.

On a side note, the seller is really nice, wanted to know exactly what I was working with, one of the best people I have dealt with on CL! :thmbsp:

update: The original posting was wrong, he did not want to sell the mini-monitors. Would this change if this is a good buy or not?

Still a good deal, but the lack of mini monitors gives you some haggling room. Offer $500 and see what happens. The sub is worth $200, the center prob ~125-150, the rears ~175-200, and the 7's probably another 200.

Too bad he doesn't want to sell mini monitors (though I can understand him!) - I have a pair and they are the best bookshelf speakers I ever had (and I had quite a few!)

for another 200 he will let them go, but he said the price is obviously high for a reason :)
