Paradigm Studio 100 Monitors

I have a chance to buy a set of Paradigm Studio 100 speakers the original version in mint condition for $500.These are finished in oak veneer and look awesome,although they weigh in @ about 100 lbs.I read some reviews on some websites looks like they are highly regarded.I have been an EV and klipsch man all my life.Does anyone in the forums own these?any input or suggestions are appreciated.

I don't own the original 100's but heard them when I bought my 80's and they sounded amazing. These are truely a full range speaker. Great bass.

The only reason they did not come home with me back then was the wife said they were to big for "her" living room.

Go get them, you won't regret it.
 
Paradigm Studio 100's are good speakers in any version with a very flat frequency response. I own a pair of v2's in black ash finish.

They are large and heavy floorstanding speakers roughly 44"H x 17"D x 10"W.

Even though they are fairly sensitive (~90dB) they like a strong amp that has good low impedance performance because of a fairly low (~2.5 ohms) and wide impedance dip in the upper bass region.

However, like any speaker, what sounds good is pretty subjective and holds true with these too.

I would recommend them as long as you have decent gear to drive them with.

FWIW, I paid ~$650 for my version 2's and they are not mint cabinets. Still a fair price, IMO, considering a new pair is about $2K, give or take.

Actually, I got a bit of a better deal than it sounds because the speakers came with a Servo 15 sub for a mere $350 extra - considering sub alone was a $1500 piece and it's v2 replacement goes for ~$2K.
 
If this is the same pair I saw a couple of weeks ago they were first listed as vers. 2 at $750, then immediately changed to $500 as a vers 1, now they are vers. 1 at $850 - you can get these at a better price for vers. 1. Paradigms are usually very good speakers.
 
Being the first post in this thread said they were $500, I'd say that's a good deal from whoever it may be.
