Paradigm Studio Reference 20 V2?

There is a guy selling a set of Paradigm Studio Reference 20 V2 speakers on Craigslist for 450. I've never heard paradigm myself, but I've heard some great things about them. Any of you heard this model? And is the price worth it?

If they are finished in black or wood grain vinyl and not real wood veneer (optional) then they're a bit over priced, they usually go for around 350. They would need to be mint and have the real wood finish for me to stretch that far. The real wood option was around a 200 dollar option.

I have the v1's and they are great in the midrange.

Stereophile reviewed them, they said they reviewed v1 but they have a pic of the v2. They're both very close sound wise.

Whoops, meant to post this in the speakers thread... Admins could you please move?

Since you're asking about the price this is he right forum. If you posted in the speaker forum, you would not be able to discuss the price, if you did it would get moved to here, Dollars and Sense.

thank you for your response. I appreciate your opinion. Yeah, the listing says they are in mint condition, but it does not say whether its real wood or a veneer.

Thanks for that clarification. I did not realize there was a forum specifically for pricing and value. Definitely good to know!

Well I actually have three choices. I'd like to use them with a Sansui 350a. I know it wouldn't be a whole lot of power, but I love how that thing sounds! I also have a Aiwa p80 component set or my Onkyo TX-SR703.

The old Sansui would be my choice too, as long as your system is not used in a large room or played really loud.

I would not pay 450 for them, maybe 250 if they check out well. If the ad doesn't state whether wood vs. veneer, you can bet the ranch on the latter.

I dont know if that tweeter would be good with any of them....of course never heard any of your amps. Paradigms are one of those speakers that you have to do some serious system matching to get the right synergy. Once you get the right amp, they will perform wonderfully.
