Parasound HCA-1200ii

Hi, I am interested in getting the 1200ii to try out but was wondering if this model was effected with the capacitor problem like the 1500A? Also, I currently have the B&K ST2140 driving a pair of Vandersteen 2ci. Thanks

Don't know about a cap problem .. my 1500A is fine ..

Have a 1500 which is similar to the 1200 , a bit more power, but similar design & construction, and a B&K St140 ..
The 1500 is decent at low volume, but to my ear the B&K is more musical ..
Don't sell your B&K until you've compared them ...

many were. Parasound makes good units, but had a run where they bought some suspect caps for a few years. You may want to see if they have already been replaced.

The John Curl amps are good amps, and pretty smooth at low volume because they're high biased in to Class A. .. it just depends on your sensitivities ..
A lot of folks like the Aragon's too, but I prefer the B&K's harmonics to either of them .. not that I can't find uses for the Aragon. It makes a great bass amp ..
Sometimes I think people get obsessed too easily with things like a cap problem or irreplaceable output MOSFET's etc..

The B&K's were dissed right after they were introduced for unobtainable MOSFET replacements .. forty years later there are still hundreds of them playing music ..

Yes and mine is one of them. Hopefully mine can last a little longer.
