There appears to be a bit of analog filtering and gain that happens before the PCM1808, and the clock of the PCM1808 is sync'd to the internal crystal that's running at 256fs. It's possible, but I don't really NEED it to be better.

I'd rather just buy a proper TimeStep T-03EQ instead of re-engineering the Puffin! Less effort, just money...
 
I got mine over a year ago fitted Coax out. I had some tech difficulties which Shannon Parks promptly addressed in a most helpful way. But it took me over a year to start using the Coax to DAC to pre- function. It's interesting to be able to switch back and forth between Analog out to 24/96 out and back again. The last few days have been spent messing about with records I haven't heard in a long time, and have been having a great time. I think I will keep my Puffin for a while longer, but will move on to a Waxwing eventually. Much fun!
