Paypal locked me out question

cabinover

Dazed and Confused
Went to order something from ebay this morning and apparently misspelled my password. When I finally got in to PP it said my account was locked until I went to the resolution center.

So off I go to the resolution center where it wants a new password, answers to new security questions, and finally to charge my CC $1.95 that will be refunded to my PP account once it's been confirmed. That would be once I see the charge on my CC account and call them. WTF?

Anyone else run into this BS? I'm trying to figure out if it's just their way of making money while sitting on yours for 3-4 days or what.

Pisses me right off.

BTW, I'm in the correct secured PP sight.

So it's legit then?

The downside to this is now I have to go through the same hoops to set up the CC account so I can see it when it goes through. What a PITA.

First time I've ever had any problem with PP though. Guess that is good, means I haven't been using it much in the last year or so. :D My wife should be happy!

Make sure they credit your account. They never credited mine for some trivial amount when I signed up years ago. I wonder how many millions they make by doing that? Most of us are too busy to hassle for half an hour over a couple bucks so they get away with it. Someday we'll all get a letter telling us about a class action lawsuit and do we want to take part?!:D

Odd to me that PayPal would do that after mistyping your password. It almost sounds like one of those redirect bugs I got on my computer last September. When I would try to log into eBay, it kept telling me my eBay account was compromised and to fill out a bunch of new stuff to reactivate it. It was NOT eBay.

I think the key here is not the missed password but the inactivity. The OP says he "I haven't been using it much in the last year " which could mean Paypal's filters just saw a pattern it didn't like and it's default is to re confirm tha account to make sure someone hasn't borrowed it.

Yep.

Naw, I think it may have some connection to ebay though. I have been using it through Amazon for music and books.

Then again I probably just changed my password and forgot. There goes my chance to get my Advent surrounds before the weekend. Now I'll have to drink and listen to other speakers.:music:

Life is rough ain't it?:D

in the last 3 mos., i've gotten two emails stating that multiple attempts had been made to access my pp acct. from different computers, and to please fill out the attached html form to straighten things out. both were bogus, and i never opened the attached form, so i don't know what they were looking for. i would call someone at pp and verify that your account has been legitimately blocked and then unblocked.

When you tried to login to Paypal you saw that each attempt using the wrong password was displaied on your screen saying " wrong ID or Password". I think it was the 3rd attemt that locked you out. Different sites have different rules

PayPal and other financial sites take great care in making sure no one hacks an account. Your failed attempts at logging in triggered a lock out and now you have to prove you are who you say you are to get back in. It is a PITA but IMO it is necessary to protect everyone. With so may ( different ) passwords that one might have I keep a password secured spreadsheet on a memory stick and look at it if I forgot a password to a site I hardly use.

When you get phishing email like this you should forward them to spoof@paypala.com. Never! Let repeat this. Never login to paypal or any other secured site thought an email link you have received. They are just tying to steal your login ID and password. It is very common. :thumbsdn:
