Went to a hamfest Sunday to help my buddy with his tables,,,, This guy was still there at the end,,, so I had to bring it back with me,,, Amp works fine,,, 3 of 6 preamps are OK also,,, other three are weak, and Reverb dosen't work, but that could be operator error but just have playing on Variac/DBT and its dead quiet,,, maybe the three weak preamps will come around with a little cleaning,,,

Thanks,,, pretty much a deal.,,, my buddy had a three foot high stack of gear covering a a 4x8 foot tarp for 5 bux, each,,, when no one grabbed it for a buck, I saved it from the dumpster at the end of teh meet!!!! I rebuilt a RMI amp a few years ago,, about the same size cabinet as this one.. Its 150W IIRC,,,
Just cleaned all the pots/jacks and switches,, waiting for it to dry... We'll see if
the 3 weak preamps on one board respond to cleaning the jumper jack/plugs from the board...

Got the Peavey sorted,,, the 3 preamps that were weak, was due to a loose power plug/jack from one board to another,,, this thing is a monster, from 1970,,,
It is safe to run down to 1 ohm speakers, pretty close to a short ckt,,, I got two 300W Apogee PA speakers at 3.2R,,, can only turn it to
1 or 2 without an attenuator, with CDP..
Still gotta sort teh Reverb,,, but it may just need a foot switch or jumper...

I know a lot of musicians mock Peavey, but they were always some of the best engineered, best built products in the industry. And a damned good dollar value as well :)

Yep,,, I've heard that also,,, they seem to be PA amps mainly,,, but they are bulletproof,,, I may replace the two big PS caps,, but this thing doesn't hum,,,

Nice score.

...and nice fix !

I don't care for Peavy guitar amps (too much uncontrolled feedback for me, and I like to play on 11)

But their bass amps rock.

I'm using a KB300 right now, that I got a good deal on, and I love it.

Previously I had used a Renown 2-12 and that rocked for bass.
