Peavey pro sound questions...1545 monitors

I picked up a pair of Peavey monitors at a garage sale today and need to find more info on them. I believe these are late 1980's early 1990's but can't find much info on them. They have sequential serial numbers on the cabinets (IE 00996727 and IE 00996726) model #1545 Monitor Precision Transducer.

I hooked them up to my PA system and it sounds like both woofers are shot, the sound is distorted and no bass present.

I took them apart to see what was inside and found that they have a Peavey 22a compression driver and a 15 inch Black Widow 1503.

Do you guys know how to identify year by the serial number for Peavey or Black Widow? Best replacement for these? Any ideas on the xover and how to check?

Couldn't pass them up for the price of a couple of large pizzas

Peavey sells replacement basket assemblies for black widows, last i knew you could get them for around 90 each, it's the only replacement worth bothering with.
