Peavey Speakers?

I was given this pair of Peavey PRM 308S Phase Reference Monitors. Needed foams. I was impressed enough by the weight and quality to get it done. The switch on the front is for reference or equalized? The metal tag on the front says AMR PRM Series. They are 4ohm. Anybody had any experience with them? Hooked them to G6000 and they do sound good and have a nice tight punch.:music:

All the peavey gear I have used is well built like industrial equipment and middle of the road fidelity. That looks interesting and I bet it is good.
 
AMR stood for Audio Media Research, a commercial/pro line they had for a time in the late 1980s/early 1990s. Those are studio monitors they offered. Never heard a pair but should be very good quality. I forget whether that 'contoured' setting was brighter or duller than 'reference'....
 
Reference seems to be brighter. Any idea what the wattage rating is? I'm pushing them pretty hard and seems they can take it.

I realize this thread is 12+ years old, but I just landed a set of the AMR PRM 308's myself in the early style cabinets.

Do you still have yous? Any thoughts on sound, I need to foam them and do some clean up work but over all they look great. Heavy as all get out!
 
I've heard a set in a studio environment before and they sound great. Like any studio ref. monitor, the manufacturers strive to have a flat response. Well worth fixing up !!

That’s what I’ve been told lol :) I just started a thread on them, got them home now. They are crazy heavy for the size. Impressively heavy lol I carry hand tools all day for work and I struggled carrying them up a flight of stairs...

I have several sets of studio monitors (KRK 8's and 5's and Adam 7's) and all feel like they are made of stone :) Heavy as hell !!! But mine are all powered. A have quite a few Peavey amps and a pair of vintage SP-3 PA Speakers. Stuff is built like a tank.
 
Late to the topic.
I found a nice pair of Peavey PRM 308, for $150
How do they perform in a home ?
Is there a crossover in the inside ?
