I use my Zerostat regularly. My turntable generates soooo much static in my dry house during winter. A couple of zaps helps the surface dust fall off and cleans up the sound.

I need to get one of those things it sounds like. I've wondered why the record was hard to get off the platter a few times and it was basically stuck on there by static.

I clean my vinyl before and after playing with a carbon fiber brush (and do a complete vacuum clean at least once) but there are still little dust fibers that get on there. The worst is in the colder months when the humidity is low, there is more static electricity and the records attract dust after playing. I have a zero stat and while it does make the dust dance, it does not fully remove the static charge when they particularly clingy. There are more expensive static guns as I recall but even in my obsessive state I don't want to obsess that much.

At about the same time the Zerostat came out another company produced one that ran on a couple C cell batteries. Man that thing could zap ya! It was more like a taser.
