Peter Boyle - RIP

A really nice guy - apparently the polar opposite of Frank Barone in "Raymond". Also cracked me up as the monster in "Young Frankenstein", and Jocko Dundee in "Johnny Dangerously".

Great Quotes as Frank Barone (stolen unabashedly from Wikipedia):
"Holy crap!"
"Marie, beer!"
(To his sons) "Hello, ladies!"
"What in hell's bathroom was that?!"
"What in the holy name of crap are you talking about?"
"You're having a Chinese themed party? After what those guys did to me in Korea!"
(To his wife) "You're a trophy wife? What contest in hell did I win?"
(About his son) "My little girl Raymond."
"Is that some of your "I'm okay, you're okay" hippie crap?"
(On his son's sex life) "Listen, Sonny. If you're having trouble making the wee whacki woo hoo...you didn't get that from me."
"I'm gonna start scratching!"
"Sweet crap!"
"Well ain't this a kick in the ass!"
"You don't know a monkey wrench from a monkey's ass, do you son?."
(Commenting on Ray's TV appearance) "I could've eaten a box of Alpha Bits and crapped a better interview."
(During silence between Marie and Debra) "It's like in Korea."
(Helping with Robert's wedding invitations) "Attention, Idiots."

Gonna miss him. :tears:

I saw that on Yahoo earlier today. Very sad; I always liked him.
Learned from the Yahoo story that John Lennon was best man at his wedding!

"Joe" is what I remember him for more than anything. I'm not married, so I never had to watch that Raymond thing.

The scene in "YF" in the old man's shack where he gets his finger lit, soup dropped in his lap, etc, was priceless..

An excellent actor and from all appearances a real nice guy. He also played a great Frankenstein (that's Franc-en-steen...GRRR).

RIP Peter Boyle
RIP Madeline Kahn (his YF co-star)

I watched Yellowbeard two nights ago, and Where the Buffalo Roam about a month ago.

In Where the Buffalo Roam he portrayed Hunter S. Thompson's attorney- Hunter S. Thompson was played by Bill Murray in that film.

In Yellowbeard, he played Bosun Moon. Yellowbeard also starred Cheech and Chong, Marty Feldman, David Bowie, members of the comedy troupe Monty Python's Flying Circus, and Madeline Kahn, who played Yellowbeard's wife.

An interesting tidbit- In 1990, Boyle suffered a stroke that resulted in him being speechless for a half year.

Of course he recovered, and went on to do many a more role, including his stint on Raymond.

"Smoke, goooooood" :lmao:

:scratch2: might use that as an avatar

I'm very sorry to see this news. I always laughed at him in "Raymond" far, far more than Ray Romano.
RIP, Mr. Boyle.

Don't forget his portrayal of "Wizard" in the Scorsese classic - "Taxi Driver". A great actor, and a loss for all fans of cinema.

His portrayal of the infamous senator Joe McCarthy, in "Tail-gunner Joe", 1977 was one of his finest works.:thmbsp:

Ron.

Oh man! I didn't know he passed on. Damn. What a great actor that guy was... one of my favourites. He has been in so many movies, including a couple personal favs: "Outland" & "The Candidate" and my absolute fav X-Files episode. In a candyfloss hollywood world where we have former wrestlers and body builders becoming box office superstars, it is nice to know we had the measurement standard of real actors like Peter to remind us what real actors do.
