Phase Tech 8' Woofer Refoam?

Has anyone successfully refoamed a Phase Technology 8' woofer? I see others have fixed smaller drivers in the bookshelf speakers. I have a pair of PC 6.5 speakers in good shape other than the foam surrounds on the woofers, but can't find the right sized surrounds anywhere. Most have too small of an OD (needs 7.75-8.0) and too big of an ID (needs <5.25), and would just fall through the gap between the frame and the cone. Phase Tech wants $90 each for new drivers, far exceeding the $60 I paid for the speakers...

Your screwed. I am in the same boat but I got mine for free.
I have been searching and searching for the foams and I haven't found anything close.

I had not found that one. It's an angle attachment to the cone instead of flat, but I'll give it a shot anyway.
 
I have used the same company for those hard to fit 10"+ KLH woofers as well!!!

Are the phase tech 8 inch surrounds as hard to find/fit as the 6 inchers? I've got four PC-60 with rotted foam that I would love to find the right fit for. No luck so far.
 
Kinda sneaky there; that kit does 1 speaker; you need to order two for a set.
Most folks sell by the pair..

The prices though are competitive with the normal price for a set, so it's not a ripoff. It's just not the bargain I thought it looked to be.
 
Their website says those surrounds are intended for subs, so most folks probably only need one. Luckily, I did read the fine print, and ordered two. They aren't $90, so they're still a deal. I'll report back on how they work.
 
I got the surrounds from speakerworks. They are actually about 1/2" too small on the inside diameter, so the inside edge of the roll overlaps the cone. But they're closer than anything else I've found so I put them in. I never heard these when the original surrounds were intact, so I can't make a comparison, but they sound good now. Not huge amounts of bass, but I didn't expect that from these speakers.

What you got was as close as I got as well! I made them work OK and they did end up sounding fine. The only other iption is to splice a larger foam- which is what I would do next time.
