Phase tech PC80 for $60

Hi,

Got a chance to get Phase Technology PC80 MkI for $60. Original owner, good cosmetic condition, original boxes/manual. Would you buy it for that price? Per stereophile.com they went for $650 originally and are still well regarded.

I am concerned about the surround condition as people report that original is surely disintegrated by this time and is hard to repair.

If it were me I certainly would. But I am a collector. Reason I would is because it comes with original box and manual.:D
Yes these will need surrounds replaced if it hasn’t been done yet.

I inherited some old 530es from an old roommate and didn't notice the refoam being particularly challenging; unless there's something special about the PC80 I wouldn't worry about that.
 
Value questions should be asked in Dollars & Sense. But grab those for that price 100%! The refoam is just different as it's a flat piston woofer.

Ah, I missed that. My Phase Techs are just a conventional woofer with a foam surround so I didn't make the connection. Had them working days after bringing them home only because Rick Cobb didn't have the dims so I had to actually go pick them up before ordering new foams.
