Officially have the tube bug BAD! I have a chance to pick up this PHILCO console for nothing. Literally just have to go get it. I can’t make out the model number but my biggest question would be, is it stereo? Owner says it is but I’m having doubts. You don’t see a lot of threads on PHILCO amps so wondering if there is any potential here.

Mike she isn’t up to pulling the back off and says that’s as clear a picture as she can get. It’s a 20 minute drive so may take a chance and just go check it out. Amazing how everyone has a phone with a camera but almost nobody can take a clear picture. ‍♂️
 
It may use a separate speaker to make it stereo! I would grab it anyway if free & you might snag another to make stereo if needed anyway.

It looks like another High Quality unit so for sure grab it and Philco was known for it's good electronics back in the day!
 
for the price and effort, it doesn't matter what it is.

looks mono but could go with an external speaker. Only the turntable would be proper stereo, but its possible this is AM/FM simulcast stereo on the tuner. I see what looks like side by side scales, if they have individual tuning knobs that makes it pretty likely to be a simulcast unit.

I believe so. If it is a G1807 it will have the same tube amp as a G1708 phono only unit. I don't see a S on the label. From RadioMuseum website, "This model has Qty(1) 12" PM woofer and Qty(1) type "P" electrostatic speaker." My H-1916 from 60 has a pair of 12" Rolas and 2 x 10"mid/electrostatic speakers. Don't see any way for this to be stereo as is but I've been wrong before. The RT-202 tuner is mono reception. Only the RT-400 is simulcast and stereo with a MPX module.

On it's own it wouldn't be stereo, but the question is whether it requires an external speaker with an amp, or just an external speaker to make it so. Some of the 2 piece rigs had a stereo amp in the main cabinet, some had a mono amp in each cabinet. There were also those goofy amps that were either stereo single ended or mono push-pull depending on the input source and speaker connections.
 
Thanks for all the help. Looks like I’m going to rescue it anyway . If I’m not happy someone on AK can have it for cheap. Keep you posted when it gets home.

On another note I found a Magnavox FM026 radio in mint condition at a yard sale today. Gorgeous condition, stereo and tube based. I’m reading conflicting posts about this being hot chassis style and useless really for stand alone use. Is that the case? I’ll have pics of that up tomorrow. Hopefully this string continues till I find an Amp 150
 
Good that you're going to save it and do continue searching until you find the Maggie you want. My own fascination and acquisition with tube consoles started this summer with a modest Montgomery Wards unit. A few weeks later the TOTL Philco and a few weeks ago a fully functioning(needed a stylus and cosmetic TLC) Pilot with a PP EL84/12AX7 amp & Pre/Tuner combo, Fortunately my wife also appreciates them.

The MW was and is a great learner unit. I had some amazing help along the way here and on other forums. A posting on another forum similar to our "Dollars and Sense" led to the Pilot. It was on FB for almost 3 months under "Antiques and Collectibles", so do check other areas if you're not already doing so. I'm slowing my acquisitions unless a Fisher should happen to make itself available for cheap.

Look forward to seeing more pics after you've got it.

Edit: The 6B500 Pilot console was listed under the sub-heading "Buffets and Sideboards" in FB Marketplace. Seller even had a photo with lit dial playing in his garage.

It is a 1959 model and as others have stated, it is not stereo on its own, it needed the optional SA2000 matching speaker/amplifier cabinet to make it completely stereo.
