Philips 212 turntable power issue

The start light does not come on and motor doesn't turn. I have 14v out of the transformer. I accidently jumped the 14v to the start light wire and the TT turned and will play. I turned it off and back on withend 5 seconds and it came back on. I turned it off for 30 minutes and it didn't come on. I had to rejump it. Any ideas what to check? I have schematics and a multimeter. Thanks

If any of the filament lamps has failed, it won't work. The lamp resistance is part of the logic circuit design ,and you can't substitute a different lamp for the same reason.

It was working about 3 weeks ago and none of the 45, stop, or 33 lights were working. I noticed the speed was erratic when i took a bulb out but it was still turning. It stopped turning since then.
 
Maybe you were just lucky. They are well known to not work correctly when one or more lamps have gone open circuit .
 
I'm thinking a capacitor is being charged when i jump the start lamp and it stays charged for a very short time after i turn the power off and allows it to restart. If i leave it off longer the capacitor discharges completely and will not restart. Is this possible?
