Hello,
A few days ago i get a pair of DUX 6541 motional feedback loudspeaker
I paid US 150 for them. I found some information about them mostly in dutch
or german. These are 2 ways sistems powerwed by a built in 30 watts amp.
with a passive crossover at 1400 Hz.The servo control works with a piezo
accelerometer near the voice coil. Dux is Philips( for sell in Scandinavia I
think). They were sold in the late 70·s and I think they entered the US
market as Philips or Aristona. Where i bought them I listened them fed by
a KT 8300 Kenwood (sadly not for sale) and the impresion was good for me.
Later I didn t made a serious listen sesion yet. ¿Does anybody know these
speakers?, and if so ¿what is your opinion? Finally if anybody have the specs.
reviews or some technical information I would apreciatte it.
Thanks

I have a pair of SMT-90 Yamaha's,very limited information, dynamic servo drive elements .They sound incredible.are very thin and weigh a ton.I will not part with them and will continue to seek the truth about these units. These were an 80's model and and export item. The bottom line is they are incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like the Philips AH541 (in the US). Here are the specs:
Continious Bandwidth (measured pursuamnt to FTC rule on power output claims for amplifiers) 30 watts
Bandwidth: 45hz - 20khz
THD: 0.4%
Load: 4 ohms
Frequency Range: 35hz-20khz
Crossover Frequency: 1400hz
Input Sensitivities: 1v @ 10k ohm
7.5v@1k ohm
19v @ 100 ohm
Woofer: 6" (153mm)
Tweeter: 1" (25mm) dome
Dimensions: 9" x 11.5" x 7"

The unit was theBOTL with the higher models being: (in ascending order)
RH544
RH567
RH545
Production was in late '70s and early '80s.

Source: Philips catalog produced somewhere between 1977 and 1981.

Hope this helps. I've heard a couple of these and though a sales failure in the US, they were very very good speakers. A prime example of what happens when the amps and speakers systems are designed as a unit. Excellent synergy. I have the 4506 reel to reel that has the preamp built-in that was designed for use with the speakers. There was a series of components mainly marketed in Europe designed or at least labeled for them including a preamp.

There are a couple of sites on the web that has extensive discussion about them and 1 has an English version up. Or at least there was. I ran across them in searching for the Laboratory Series components.

They were a good idea and used excellent drivers. I remember hearing a pair once, but don't really remember what they sounded like.

Everything I "know" about them can be found here:
