Philips AD 7060 vs 7062

Hi there. I have a pair of Rectilinear 5 speakers, they were given to me with some blown drivers. Besides the main 12” woofers, one of each size speaker was dead. I replaced with odd speakers but I'd like to replace with the right speakers. I've seen what looks exactly like the 6" whizzer speaker (AD7062) on eBay as AD7060/M8. Does anyone know if these are essentially the same, or was a custom version made especially for the Rectilinear 5? I don't find anything searching for AD7062/M8, searching AD7060/M8 I find it at http://www.sportsbil.com/stereo/rectilinear-db/philips_mids.pdf. Any help out there?

I hope all is well. I think I was the person who bought the 7062 drivers off of ebay that you mentioned (It was about the same time you posted your question). I realize it's been about a month so you probably found an answer. However, I found the Philips .pdf file for that year of drivers and it had the 7062 in it, it may have the 7060. They don't include T/S parameters or anything particularily useful, but at least you can see cutout size info, power handling etc...

"70" refers to the overall diameter, 6.5 inch.
The second pair of digits refers to the magnet type, 60 = Ferroxdure 72mm diameter, I'm not sure what 62 is exactly - different size magnet I suspect.
The M means full range response, usually double cone, so NOT a midrange unit.
The 8 is the impedance.

Hi guys,

I saw this thread and felt the immediate need to reply, even though the thread is already 2 years old. The biggest difference between the AD7060/M4 and the AD7062/M4 is that the has a paper surround, while the surround of the AD6062 is like that of the AD7065/W4 or /W8. This means that the 7060 is meant for a closed box up till 30 liters and the 7062 for an acoustic suspension box, 7 to 9 liters. I looked it up in the green Philips loudspeaker building books, so it has to be correct! I sure hope you are going to enjoy the glorious sound of these units. The 7060 also sounds very good in an open baffle, 80 cm high and 70 cm wide, eventually in wingform. Needs some extra bass though! Good Luck!

Might as well put up some info, if only for future reference. I have two AD7060 and have measured the following T/S parameters for them:

Znom: 8 ohm
Re: 7.7 ohm
Fs: 44Hz
Qms: 3.01
Qes: 0.62
Qts: 0.51
Vas: 50 liters
Sd: ~133sq.cm
SPL: ~90.5dB/W/m

These are very good sounding driver IMHO.
