Today at the thrift i found a set of Philips SJ-2932 sample speakers. They seem to suffer from the same design flaw as the Polk 10 monitors but i do like how these suckers sound. After a bit of testing it does seem like one of the tweeters is inoperable so i suppose i get to open them up. i can find almost no data on this particular model of speakers although i does seem that Philips did produce speaker parts for a bunch of manufacturers.IMG_2557.JPG IMG_2558.JPG IMG_2559.JPG IMG_2560.JPG IMG_2561.JPG

edit : after doing a search on a real computer instead of a smart phone i did find an AK thread that mentioned these speakers. my adventures in mid-fi continue...my apologies to those whom i have offended. at least i only paid thrift store prices.

after pulling the tweeter and reconnecting a wire i hooked the speakers up to a sansui 5000a and put on Funkadelics Cosmic Slop album. i was fairly impressed with what i heard. it came equipped with Phillips tweeters made in Belgium, Onkyo midranges (58514-1) , and i could not quite id the woofer (581021-1 575851 were the numbers)
 
Sparkie, do you still have these speakers? I've stumbled upon a pair in perfect working order and an 8.5/10 cosmetically awhile back and run them in my family room stacked with HPM-40's on top. Nobody on earth would believe how fantastic these PHL 2932's are. The room really lights up with the most amazing sound. I have several (20+) pairs of high end and respected speakers around the house, and these Philips are some of the best for sure.
