Hello, been reading through the forum about this turntable as im having issues with 33 and 45rpm not staying on plus a load of flashing LEDs on the pitch control, given the age of this table im thinking of trying to replace the 2 capacitors on the MB circled in red, is that a good place to start? they seem be right next to the power in cable from the trans
Looking at the inside this table hasnt been used much and was running well until last week

p.s im ok with auto electrics but this is pushing it for me, but I want to try and save it!

Dumb question here but are you sure you’ve got the right size belt on it or if it’s the original belt that it’s not stretched? Could just be the FG servo trying to lock on but can’t because the platter won’t come up to speed. Also might want to clean the speed trimmer controls if the belt is ok.
 
Thanks, belt is ok and if I speed the platter up by hand it still won't hold, the LEDs for the speed trim are going mad, so are the LEDs for the 33/45 indicators
Cleaning the speed trimmers I can do, switch cleaner be ok there?
 
I can’t quite make them out fully but the items you circled look like ceramic capacitors and so are unlikely to be giving any problems unless they are physically damaged.

it’s worth checking the electrolytics for any signs of bulging or leakage but, to be honest, they look fine in your picture.

Your best starting point would be to clean the pots and then work through any electrical adjustments or checks in the service manual.
 
Yes, use switch / contact cleaner just like you’d use on a volume pot. Check out the frequency generator head and also where the wires from it connect to the circuit board (usually a multi-pin connector). Make sure the FG sensor head doesn’t have something blocking the signal and that it’s still in place where it should be, also clean the pins on the connector for it with the same contact cleaner you use for the pots. Clean the speed trimmer pots as well as the speed selector switch and see what happens.
