Phono/Equalizer problem - SX-850

I am working on a SX-850 for a friend.

I just updated the equalizer board (AWF-011) as one channel wasn’t working. One of the PNP transistors was bad, so I replaced both PNPs with KSC992 (matched) and all four NPNs with KSA1845s. I now have both channels working again but I have one problem. When I connect the the RCA cables to either phono1 or phono2 I have a hum coming out of the speakers and it will increase with the volume knob. This happens when the other end of the RCA cables are NOT connected so it’s not the turntable. I’m assuming these cables are acting like an antenna and picking up some magnetic interference. Did I do something wrong or is this a relatively common problem?

Replacing PNPs with KSC and NPNs with KSA doesn't sound like it will work very well.

Thank you. .... and yes, I knew that.....KSA992 and KSC1845. Was going on memory but I screwed it up

It's a turntable ground issue which is normal
