Looking for two pair of good quality binding posts for my DCM TF1000s... just going to ditch the old spring clip terminals completely. I will likely still be using bare wire termination though. Something like this would be fine

but after reading a few reviews I am thinking that I might want to kick the quality up a notch. Probably going to be using these plates

so they should be able to be used on a thicker mounting surface (e.g. not a strictly chassis mount post) and I would like the capability to use at least 14AWG wire preferably with a little room for larger just because you never know.

Right now I'm in search/option overload... I wish BJC sold binding posts...! would make this so much easier. That's pretty much my style, I want top quality but I could care less about flashy plating or what brand it is...

Those are rather poor quality imo. You should be able to find something competitively priced with at least brass construction. Those are steel and aluminum. Are there no shops at all where you live?
 
Um, there's a Magnolia :)

I thought from the spec sheet those were tin plated brass?

Brass=best conductivity
Gold=excellent corrosion resistance
makes for a great combination and not much more expensive than the plain cheaper quality stuff

edit: upon further reading, scratch the part about brass having best conductivity. Not even close.

yeah if whatever I get is gold plated I wouldn't complain

the ones on the plate look OK but I need the specific plate I posted which doesn't appear to come with a binding post option...

or has someone used those and know they're good, and I should just get 'em and remove the posts?

Very much so, copper is the lowest resistivity metal commonly available save for silver. The latter isn't used much because a) it's expensive and b) it tarnishes. Even gold has a higher resistivity than copper, but gold plating is used for corrosion protection.

I'll have to see if I can find a US source for those, they don't look bad.

I was kind of inclined to go with the Pomona ones because the tin plating seemed to be the only negative and a search seems to indicate that they're a sister company or are owned by Fluke who I trust to make good stuff. And I can pick them up at Grainger as opposed to having to mail order...
 
Keep in mind the size of the cable as well.
There are a lot of binding posts,for all the prices.I'd say get something of better quality if you love your speakers.Most likely you won't change them again.
 
I don't know if I love them or not, I haven't listened to them fixed yet :)

By all accounts though they're supposedly excellent speakers but the big, glaring, elephant in the room weak link is obviously those infernal spring clips hence this thread...
 
Hi, I have use Cardas copper, very good quality,I have my speaker's connected with a set of old Fulton cable big gauge (almost boosting cable size). 2 model for thinn wall or thick wall,for me this is one of the best , best regards, Yvan

Silver tarnish is a conductor unlike Copper tarnish.
