Picked up a Dual 1209

Cool_Manchu

Time to play B-sides...
Last night, I was perusing Craigslist and someone was selling their dad's old Dual 1209 for the whopping price of five bucks. I was the lucky one who responded first.

While I know the 1209 wasn't anything close to being top of the line, quite the opposite in fact, I still wanted to have an alternate TT to play around with.

While it does "work" it will need some TLC. Thankfully it's an open bottom and appears to be really straight-forward.

It still had everything that came with it originally except the box. It even had the Dual 45 insert and the original manual.

I will try and take some pics and put them up.

On the contrary the "9" models 1019, 1209, 1219, 1229 etc represnt the top of the line of the corresponding model runs....

The 1209 is a very respectable table - the 1st of the 12XX series. Once you clean all of the old grease off of it, you will have a very respectable table - there's really nothing that can go wrong with it - no "wear" items at all, as later Duals have.

You stole it.

I love my 1209. I have it hooked up as a secondary, but I use it more often, to tell you the truth.

get it cleaned up nice and it will run forever. Great sound with a Shure M91ED.

I am tempted to bring up my 1009 from the basement and bring it back to life. It needs some work on the idler reel but used to run perfectly. It comes with a wooden base and wooden cover with perspex brown tinted top, front and back covers.

Does the 1209 have a table smaller than the 12" LPs as well?
