edge, can this be repaired, could I seal it with some of the epoxy I use for the surrounds??
These spkrs have an "ferro-fluid controlled midrange and tweeter, not sure what the significance is. I have never heard of this brand of speaker "Acoustics"
I have heard of Boston, Cyber and American acoustics, but never just plain Acoustics< 4000 is the model # if that helps. Ultra high freq. piezo ceramic horn???? Not sure about that either.

The final judge is gonna always be your ears, but offhand they look similar to some Technics and other Japanese produced speakers with the flashy trim around the drivers. I have some Technics drivers in the garage now that are very similar. The outer trim rings clamp down on the woofer frames to secure them to the cabinet. I would think they're old 'white van' speakers, but if you got 'em cheap and they sound good, that's all that counts.
 
Yup! Come to think of it they do look like some Technics I had with the big white Woof and all. They were having an 75% off sale so I only paid 2.50 for the pair. If I can repair the tear on the cone I will invest in an surround kit if I can find one for these woofs. Still would like to know the significance of "Ferros fluid cooled"
