Picked up a pair of DLK 2's this afternoon...a few questions.

These are the DLK 2 Generation 1 speakers, with the plain foam grille trim. Pretty rough shape, but they're DLK 2's so we'll see. Both of the tweeters are missing . Not totally sure if ANY of the drivers are original except the midranges (pictured along with the woofers) look like the type used in the generation 1 DLK 2's. The woofers have the dark dust cap with the lighter color cone (but not exactly white) with the paper surrounds. The woofers and midranges appear to be alnico's with both ends sealed around the magnet. See the posted pictures. All of them have good ohm readings around 7.1 ohms. The woofers have good "movement" manually. No scraping sound and "springy."

At any rate, anyone have spare Generation 1 DLK 2 tweeters they'd be willing to part with? Am I right in assuming they used CTS phenolic ring tweeters, now sold as the t-135? I'm going to check with Midwest Speaker Repair to see if they have any new/old ones, too. They've become quite expert at repairing DLK's because DLK's frequently turn up in the St. Paul area.

Also does anyone have a schematic or photo of a DLK 2 First Generation crossover? That would be handy. It's obvious when removing these speakers that some minor "experimentation" or mis-wiring has been going on.

Your mids and woofers are original.

Yes, they used the CTS tweeters. Midwest Speaker has exact replacements.

I re-capped all of mine, but I don't seem to have made a schematic or kept a cap list. I do have before and after photos of the crossovers.

Midwest Speaker in Roseville (off of Fairview just north of 36) has the CTS tweeters--I replaced one on a pair of 1 1/2 a while back and the replacement sounded the same as the original to me. They might have the crossover info (and caps/parts) you need to get them back working again. Those DLKs are a good find!

Edit: Watco Rejuvenating Oil rubbed in with 0000 steel wool worked wonders for the cabinets on my old 1 1/2s, and Midwest I think has foam precut for the grilles for those, so you should have them back in shape in no time,

Wow, I just got a 1st generation set of dlk 2's with alnico mag woofs as well only difference is my woofer dust caps are sealed type and they have dlk logo the mids say dlk on them too. Same accordian surrounds on woofers same cones.
