I ordered them from The Speaker Exchange. I saw the link on AK and thought I'd give them a try. Very nice people, fast shipping and a great product. I usually don't do plugs but I'm impressed with these people. It's nice to support a small business that does great work. One thing though, I didn't use the contact cement they supplied with the kit, I used Eileen's Tacky glue. That stuff is MUCH easier to work with and is very strong. Everything else was perfect.

thank you i wasn't sure if asking where was proper manners but they look great and I liked the comment about no kids or wife when i get the chance i switch speakers and let it go,the neighbors wife usaully tells on me,have fun

I don't know what happened, I guess I heated those old fuses up, one burned me little. The value is 2 amp 250 volt. The amp I'm using is a 9090DB rated at 125WPC. The "meters" said 50 continuous at the time of the blow, listening to a metal station. The music was pretty constant. I threw in some lower value ones I had laying around and all seems to be undamaged.

CV recommends a 2.5 - 3.0 amp slow blow fuse (2.5 amp is stock value). A 2.0 amp fast blow will cook very early in comparison. If you never clip I can verify that 3.0 amp fuse protects all drivers fine, and it is very loud when it does blow.

Thanks! I'll pick some up.

I can remeber the first time I saw/heard those. I was up awake at night for weeks trying to figure out a scheme to get enough dollars to buy a set. Never happened. Still an unrealized dream of my youth. Maybe someday I'll get lucky and find a set.

Congrats!!!!

i have a pair of dx9's same as yours but a year or two newer. go to morel.com i put a morel dt(?)37 tweeter in mine and they made a world of difference. need to change caps in mine as well. hardly ever listen to them though, too many other toys to play with.

Efficiency on the MDT37 is only 93 db/watt. How does this work on a 100 dB/watt speaker??

I've seen a lot of D-9s in my time, those with midrange grills like your's, and those with round grills. What are the differences? Vintage? The vast majority of models I have seen have round grills.

The normal fuse is 2A slow blow, but Cerwin did make an allowance to use a 2.5A slow blow if you're careful. A normal fast blow fuse won't last at all if you get cranky.

It's not that hard to blow the fuses. I used to keep a few on hand when I was running my Cerwins off a Yamaha M-40, then later an M-80.

Thanks for the info in the fuses whoaru99.
XtremeD63, I was told by a friend that the earlier production D9s had a round mid and the later ones starting around '90 have the square ones.

I have decided to upgrade the tweeters, what would be the best ones? I don't want to alter the hole either.
Thanks!
