Pickering Styli

Well, I just gave my friend a BIC 940 TT with a pickering cartridge in it. The pickering doesn't say what one it is but it has a D7E stylus in it. I am led to believe that all the pickering Styli of that style are inter changeable (or at least most are) could I put on cheaper stylus base one something like the D300 or D200? Any suggestions?

Deciphering Pickering numbering systems is a bit of mind bender. I'd go to Turntableneedles.com and enter the D7E and see what you get? You'll get a picture and a drop down list of all that Steve has that will fit. Once you have that list, you can start looking around the web for alternatives. But, if he lists one as best value - that'll be about the best after market styli you can put on that body

Well, see the problem is the actually replacement for the D7E is $67 for the after market one. I don't have that money to spend on a stylus. hmmm... I have a beat 400E, maybe I should just throw that in it and see if it fits...

Yes, that will work, and it's a better stylus. The D7E is a conical.
