Pickering Stylus ID, Anyone Know....

131east23

...near Frank's Pizza!
I bought a really nice Garrard Lab 80 that came with the original Pickering V15 cart and what I thought was the original stylus. My research of the stylus leads me to believe that: A. It is not a Pickering AT2 because it is not stamped and identifiable as a Pickering would be. B. It looks much like the lower priced replacements I have seen for this cart that sell for $14.00 and have a VTF of 3 to 7 grams.

The original stylus had a VTF of 2 to 5 grams. It's funny, because the current Pickering replacement stylus for this cart also has VTF of 3 to 7 grams. Isn't a spherical stylus with that VTF more suited for 78's?

I actually just bought a NOS AT2, still in the box, with VTF of 2 to 5 grams for $30.00 which is about $15.00 less than the current Pickering offering. It is on its way. So without being able to ID this stylus, should I just chunk it?

It probably is the original stylus. The old V-15s from the 1960s had no markings on the stylus; no model, no logo, no nuthin'. The elliptical models may have had a silver oval on top of the stylus.

Stylus installed is correct Pickering issue. The current Stanton 400 stylus or any Stanton 500 stylus will fit it. You have options ranging from Heavy Duty conical to light tracking elliptical. Excellent cartridge for 45 and older mono and stereo LP discs.

Thank you, both! Inherited lots of jazz albums from 50's and 60's. Thought this would be fun to play them on.
