Pickering v 15 stylus moves side to side

Got an old pioneer pl 112 and it came with a Pickering xv 15 with ate 4 stylus.
I noticed that I have to manually adjust the stylus so it’s centered...it tilts left and right fairly easily. I got replacement stylus due to its age and it’s the same thing.
Does anyone know how to get the stylus from moving side to side?

They don't make original stylus for any Pickering carts these days, although you can still find some old stock on the auction site or various other places online. After market replacements are available, but they can be spotty.

The ATE 4 is a .3 x .7 elliptical. The XV15's equivalent is the D625. Probably the best aftermarket is this one: https://www.lpgear.com/product/PICKSXV15625E.html . If you would like to try something less expensive, the Pfanstiehl 4606-DET might be ok also. Do you know what the difference would be between the two stylus besides the price? Would it be better to by the more expensive one or is there little difference in quality and sound?

I haven't made a comparison myself, but generally the better aftermarket Pickering copies are the Japanese one's that LP Gear carries. Better tracking, better overall sound. LP Gear seems to carry a model that's a little less, and a model that's significantly more. Perhaps others will come along and be able to provide a bit more insight. You could also do some searches and see what you can find.

I cut the plastic from my chunky D625, and sound fabulous and you can adjust the azimuth perfectly.
LP d625 sound great very happy, however do not use the brush provided, because cause more issues than help.

I agree with sberger's recommendation. The 4606-DET would be a good match. The stylus is moving side to side because it is too compliant for your tonearm. You would not want to use a 4606-DEG which would be too compliant and would do the same thing. Later, there should be some EVG nude ellipticals available. I am going to check next week to see if there is a timeframe. In the meantime, the 4606-DET from TVOM should work well for you.

I don't believe the OP's issue is compliance. The XV-15 body that the OP received is a taller, narrower body than the V-15 body that the ATE 4 styli were designed for, so the stylus assembly housing does not grip the XV-15 cartridge body properly; the gap in the plastic that wraps around the body is too wide. When the OP noted, "it tilts left and right fairly easily," I think that meant the entire stylus assembly could rotate left and right when mounted on the body.

Not related to the fit, but another issue is that V-15 cartridges were moving magnet while the XV-15 were moving iron.

The 4606-DET would fit, but it's a .3 X .7 mil elliptical designed to track at 2-4 grams (at least for the Pfanstiehl version). Maybe I'm paranoid, but I don't like tracking an elliptical that heavy. Record wear tests have shown that a .7 mil conical tracking at 3 grams does about the same level of damage as a small elliptical tracking at 1.5 grams, this due to the elliptical's smaller contact area. I don't mind a 3 gram tracking force, but I want a .7 mil conical at those forces (I happily used a Stanton 500 AL Mk II at 3.25 grams).

Got it. I saw 'side to side' in the post title. Then I see in the body of the post it states 'tilt'. The 4606-DET tracks fine at 2 grams. At least mine does. The Swiss 4606-DET has a magnet in it even thought it is supposed to be for a MI cartridge. I see the OP is buying something else anyway.
